Position: IT Operations Manager

Location: Sheriff’s Office, Waukegan, Illinois

Salary: $96,831.00 – $175,595.83

Job Summary: Responsible for overall leadership and direction to develop and execute technical strategies to support the Sheriff’s Office applications, software and hardware with mobile device management on a 24/7 basis.

Becoming an IT Operations Manager would allow you to be involved with the Sheriff’s Office overall technical and operational IT support and management within local government, ranging from delivery of networking, server, third party vendor, workstation and application support along with mobile device management for the Sheriff’s Office. You will work closely with the Central IT Staff and decision makers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the Sheriff’s Office, to develop business case, plan and oversee the implementation of new and revised systems; analyze existing operations and make recommendations for improvement; evaluate program and system designs; assure complex technical system problems are identified and resolved; develop and review technical standards for systems design, maintenance and operations; coordinate design and review of computer systems, installation of hardware, data communication lines/cables, software, and web-based applications. Your day will be to oversee, plan, organize, direct and manage, directly and/or through subordinate staff, the information technology plan, functions, operations, and resources of the Sheriff’s Office to include, but not limited to, computer systems and resources, telecommunications, video technology, electronic records, local and wide area networks, programming, database administration and system disaster recovery. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. In order to be successful in this role you are required to have a Bachelor’s degree and experience in managing the field of computer science, information systems or related field. Individuals should have a working knowledge and experience in a law enforcement environment with knowledge of criminal justice systems such as TriTech and Field Based Reporting (FBR), LEADS, (CAD) Computer Aid Dispatch, in-car video recording systems and mobile data computers. The individual is exceptionally self-motivated and directed and has the ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. The individual will be able to demonstrate the ability to apply information technology in solving business problems and have knowledge of trends in technology relating to computer hardware and software applications; possess the ability to effectively problem solve and have the ability to work both individually and in a team atmosphere.
