Position Information

The Brentwood Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals who are eager to work in a city and department that prides itself on professionalism and community support. The Brentwood Police Department is a progressive agency that provides its dispatchers with the best equipment, training, and tools necessary to do the job. The Brentwood Police Department has a long successful history of hiring employees who are seeking a better balance between work and family.

This is an at-will, on call, part time, temporary position, has no guarantee of hours and will not work over 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, and
One year of full time clerical experience involving heavy public contact while performing multiple tasks and two years of full time experience as a Police Dispatcher with a law enforcement agency equivalent to the City of Brentwood's Police Dispatcher I.
• Possession of a California Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatchers Certificate at time of hire.
•Possession of a typing certificate verifying the ability to accurately type a minimum of 45 wpm.
Other Requirements:
•Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
•Must be able to pass a comprehensive law enforcement background check.

The examination process will consist of:
  1. Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
Department Interviews
Applicants passing all examination phases will have their applications transferred to the hiring department for them to conduct final selection interviews. The hiring department will contact applicants directly if selected to participate in the selection process.

Final Selection
Those who are selected for hire will receive an employment offer conditioned upon favorablebackground investigation, including, but not limited to prior work history, education, criminal activity, and drug testing.
