About Our Job

The City & County of Denver - Parks & Recreation Department offers Youth Sports programming for kids, ages 3 - 17 years. Our team of devoted Coaches enrich the lives of youth through engagement of sports, learning the fundamentals of numerous sports including Baseball, Basketball, Coach Pitch, T-Ball, Softball, Flag Football, Gymnastics, Tumbling, Cheerleading, Volleyball, Track & Field and Soccer.   • Northwest: Ashland, Aztlan, Glenarm, Scheitler, Stapleton
  • Northeast: Central Park, Green Valley Ranch, Hiawatha Davis Jr, Montbello, St. Charles, Swansea
  • Southwest: Athmar, Barnum, Harvey Park, La Alma, Rude Park, Southwest
  • Southeast: Cook Park, Eisenhower, Harvard Gulch, La Familia, Montclair, Washington Park


Summer Season is just around the corner so we are looking for enthusiastic Coaches to join our team for our biggest Volleyball and Soccer seasons yet! We are looking for Coaches to start as early as April for training before the season begins.

Youth Sports Volleyball and Soccer Coaches have the following job duties:
  • Serve as a role model for youth in a sports program focused on sportsmanship, fun, skill development and character development
  • Develop fun & creative practice plans for youth ages 5-17 years
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for all participants
  • Enforce program rules, department policies and provide conflict resolution and behavior management when necessary
  • Obtain NYSCA Certification (Coaches Certification)
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and workshops
  • Be accountable and prepared for all practices & games including equipment management, conflict resolution and parent communication

This is an on-call position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Experience as a Head Coach or a minimum of two seasons as an Assistant Coach
  • Experience in instructing or coaching Volleyball or Soccer
  • Experience coaching, instructing or teaching youth between the ages of 5-17

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities
  • Licensures/Certification(s): Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
  • Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
