Salary: $59,237 - $88,698 per yr
Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Correctional Nurse II works under the supervision of the Correctional Nurse III and will consult with them on a regular basis. The incumbent will communicate plans with team members by attending nursing meetings and sharing with other team members; assist with team responsibilities and assignments as necessary; use patient problems to plan patient care addressing chief presenting problems incorporating the plan of nursing care into the multidisciplinary treatment plan; collect/document the medical/mental health conditions of patients using appropriate charting protocols; complete health assessments; collect statistical date, tracking current outpatient medications and patient outcome; and review inmates to determine need for referrals or assessment. The incumbent will be working directly with inmates to carry out nursing care assignments, promote optimal health and patient independence, document problems requiring nursing interventions, document patient teaching needs and discharge planning, and communicate care plans to other nurses to maintain continuity of care.
