Group Supervisors perform duties involving the education, employment, training, treatment, care and custody of juvenile offenders residing within a State Youth Training Center; maintain comprehensive records of assigned youths' program activities; and provide individual guidance pursuant to State or federal laws and regulations. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Group Supervisor III position at the Caliente Youth Center (CYC) a 140-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth age 12 to 18. Caliente is home to some of the most beautiful country in Nevada! This includes the magnificent Rainbow Canyon and the oasis-like setting of Kershaw-Ryan State Park just 2 miles south of the city center. Within 50 miles of the town are four other Nevada state parks: Beaver Dam, Cathedral Gorge, Spring Valley, and Echo Canyon. Caliente is a short distance, approximately 2 hours north, from the bright lights of Las Vegas, NV. The CYC goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking for youth. Under limited supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties in the series concept and participate as a member of a treatment team by assisting in the formulation and evaluation of a treatment plan and making recommendations on alternative treatment methods. Additionally, Group Supervisor III's coordinate and oversees group and individual treatment sessions; develop session goals, rules and content using prescribed methods; document group and individual treatment and activities; and prepare individual progress summary reports for review by the treatment team, committing judge, parole officer, legal guardian, and institutional staff. This is the advanced journey level in the series. These are full time positions that include a variable work agreement that may be scheduled to work hours and days different than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday such as swing shift and weekends, with overtime after 40 hours per week.
