The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is comprised of approximately 150 attorneys, 60 inspectors, 30 Victim-Witness advocates and claim specialists, as well as a variety of administrative, finance, and communications professionals. Our jurisdiction covers over 800 square miles and our staff work in 9 offices located throughout the County.

Within the Criminal Prosecution Division, we have numerous specialized units dedicated to specific areas. Some of the units include: domestic violence, gangs, sexual assault, human trafficking
, DNA/unsolved cases, truancy
, identity theft, sexually violent predators, child abduction and more. These units are staffed by experienced, highly skilled prosecutors who are experts in their individual fields.
H.E.A.T. (Human Exploitation and Trafficking) Watch is a nationally recognized, award-winning program created by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office (ACDAO) to combat human trafficking on a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and regional basis. H.E.A.T. Watch seeks to prevent and combat human trafficking in all of its forms with a five-point strategy designed to support victims and those at-risk; engage community members and raise awareness; train law enforcement and other first responders; prosecute traffickers and purchasers; and change legislative policy and identify best practices.
The ACDAO spearheaded the Bay Area H.E.A.T. Coalition (B.A.H.C.) to increase communication, cooperation, and collaboration between local, state, and federal law enforcement, service providers, systems, community members, and existing human trafficking task forces in the Bay Area. B.A.H.C. seeks to establish a coordinated response between law enforcement and victim services on a regional scale thereby enhancing local efforts to increase victim identification and recovery as well as effective investigation and prosecution of local and multi-jurisdictional trafficking cases; support and coordinate existing and emerging local service provider networks to fully function at the regional level; and create and support regional capacity to identify trafficking trends and patterns throughout the Bay Area.
The H.E.A.T. Watch Coordinator plays a key role in ACDAO's H.E.A.T. programming. The Coordinator is responsible for helping to effectively implement all five H.E.A.T. Watch strategies and also to facilitate regional B.A.H.C. meetings on a quarterly basis. As part of the ACDAO H.E.A.T. Team, the Coordinator will seek to develop innovative trainings and initiatives that advance H.E.A.T. Watch strategies and partner goals. The Coordinator will be required to identify and activate local, regional and national partners to achieve priorities identified by H.E.A.T. Watch and B.A.H.C. members. The Coordinator will also engage and facilitate community member, service provider, first responder, and policy maker, training efforts as well as ensure cross-disciplinary cooperation and collaboration. Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O'Malley under the direct supervision of Assistant District Attorney Sharmin Bock, Head of the H.E.A.T. Unit. LOCATION:
This position is based in Oakland, CA with expected travel throughout the county and Bay Area.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
•The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating all H.E.A.T. Watch and B.A.H.C. anti-human trafficking efforts
• Organize, attend, and provide all administrative assistance and programmatic support for quarterly B.A.H.C. meetings, as well as other regional meetings organized by B.A.H.C. coalition partners
• Create and maintain collaborative relationships with community service providers, local and state law enforcement, and other federal victim service providers
• Aid in anti-human trafficking community engagement and outreach initiatives (e.g. developing educational pamphlets, facilitating programs with community groups, maintaining resource directory)
• Organize and conduct trainings for law enforcement, other first responders, service providers, school-based and health care professionals, and community members
• Analyze goals, objectives, activities, and make recommendations for programmatic corrective actions, to promote optimal operations, standardized services, and ethical compliance when working with victims of human trafficking
• Manage all communications with the public through the website, monthly email newsletter, podcast, and social media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram)
• Attend program-related community trainings/conferences, and other meetings as assigned
• Evening and weekend meetings and events may be necessary
• Collect and compile program data outcomes and statistics, and create infographics and reports to report data
• Assist in identifying and applying for grants
• Oversee volunteers, interns, and support staff as needed
• Coordinate Map1193 reporting and volunteers (https://www.map1193.com/)
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Serve as liason to other task forces, and participate as a member on ACDAO Labor Trafficking Task Force and Alameda County United Against Human Trafficking Coalition (AC United)
• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred (Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Health, Human Rights, Social Work or related field)
• At least two years of experience with anti-human trafficking initiatives preferred, but expertise connecting and bringing individuals and agencies together, required
• At least two years of experience working with systems, governmental and non-governmental organizations
• Flexibility in work hours
• Must possess reliable means of transportation, a valid California's Driver's License, proof of insurance

• Skilled in the use of office software applications to prepare management reports and use software to develop information; able to enter data in required management reports
• Experience with social media, podcasts, website management, graphic design, and administrative tasks
