Vacancy Information

This vacancy is located at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission.The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission is a Joint Power Authority (JPA) between the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, and the Sixth District Agricultural Association (referred to as the California Science Center), an institution of the State of California. The Commission Board consists of six voting members -- two appointed by each of the three member entities. The primary purpose of the Commission is to provide for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the site of the former Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

Essential Job Functions
  • Answer calls, inquiries, and procedural questions from officials, stakeholders, and the public
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings as required to obtain information needed and to communication actions taken
  • Compose agendas, minutes, and letters of actions taken at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission
  • Provide support services, including gathering data and compiling reports for presentations at meetings
  • Compose letters and prepare reports and other material for signature or approval
  • Maintain files of official records and retrieve information from these records when needed
  • Update the Commission website as needed
  • Perform a variety of other administrative and clerical functions as needed

Requirements
Thisposition is restricted to permanent County of Los Angeles employees who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and meet one of the following criteria:
  • currently hold the payroll title of Senior Board Specialist
OR
  • currently hold a payroll titleat the level of the County of Los Angeles class of Staff Assistant II* analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of organization, program, procedures, systems, facilities planning, budget and personnel
OR
  • currently hold a payroll titleat the level of the County of Los Angeles class of Administrative Assistant I** OR Management Assistant*** analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, program, procedures, systems, facilities planning, budget and personnel

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Strong oral communication skills in order to effectively communicate information to the public and to constituents
  • Familiarity with legal and government documents
  • Strong written, grammatical and word-processing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and perform assigned duties under minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to new and/or changing assignments and circumstances
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office using tools such as Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel in order to create, format and edit tables, reports and documents
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations
  • Familiarity with legal and government documents

Assists the manager of major division or bureau in a County department by analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of a variety of problems of organization, budget, procedures, systems, program, general management and personnel.

**In the service of Los Angeles County, an Administrative AssistantI is defined as:
Analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of the less complex problems of organization, program, procedures, systems, facilities planning, budget and personnel; or analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of more difficult problems in the same areas under close supervision and guidance.

***In the service of Los Angeles County, a Management Assistant is defined as:
Performs research and analysesto make recommendations in support of management decisions, which may be of a confidential or sensitive nature and which directly impact the administration of major departmental programs and administrative operations.

License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class:
2 - Light.Positions within this class require light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting.
