About Our Job About Our Job This position closes on June 16, 2019. The Denver Police Department (DPD), Identification Unit (ID) is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant IV to provide direct operational, technical and administrative support to Unit supervisors, fingerprint and police technicians, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) agents, patrol officers and detectives. The position mainly supports the ID, Records, Sex Offender Registration and Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Units, but will also assist investigative units within the Denver Police Department and outside law enforcement and criminal justice agencies through fingerprinting, identification cards, registrations, background checks, and various applicant processing. The Identification Unit of the Denver Police Department exists to support patrol and investigations divisions in their crime prevention efforts through subject identification, warrant research and attribution, arrest booking procedures, fingerprint science and the concealed weapons approval process. Job responsibilities include: Processes registrations for sex offenders, interstate compacts and walk thru arrests within accordance of state statute by adding arrest information into corresponding databases, photographing and ink fingerprinting the arrestees for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Provides fingerprinting services for officers, detectives, the district attorney and courts with fingerprinting and DNA services for court ordered prints, habitual offender prints and DNA samples of subjects including those under arrest. Processes all new police department and various city employees, volunteers and contractors by coordinating initial background/criminal description checks, scheduling appointments, capturing fingerprints for CBI, taking subject photograph, and providing an identification card with appropriate access. Designs and maintains police department identification card templates and provides replacement IDs to individuals when requested. Provides general administrative support to the ID Unit by processing financial deposits, scanning various paperwork, file retention, creating documents and forms, transcribing arrests, and delivering paperwork to the downtown detention center and courthouse. Oversees the daily operation of the Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Unit when the operating detective is on vacation or in special training by processing new and renewal applicants, monitoring the CCW telephone hotline and supervising the cadet and volunteers. The ASAIV ensures that applicants reside in Denver county and present the required application and supporting documentation, photographs and fingerprints applicants and processes dues. Assists law enforcement personnel and outside criminal justice agencies by performing background checks, archiving photos, creating photo lineups and providing booking photographs and arrest records for law enforcement and public requests. This position has close contact with subjects under arrest, however a police officer is always present. The employee may also have contact with documents and photos that may contain disturbing information or graphic images. Experience: Three (3) years of full performance office support/clerical work (type and level of an Administrative Support Assistant III). Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements. Licensure & Certification: By position, may require a Colorado Class "R" Driver's License by the completion of probation.
